My parents immigrated to the United States before I was born, so being an American is part of the fabric of who I am.  When my parents came here it was with the idea that "Living the American Dream" meant having the freedom and opportunity to make a better life for themselves and their children. I am so grateful for them and for this country that I live in. I feel like I get to live that "American Dream" everyday. While our country isn't perfect, each of us have the freedom here to choose to be better and to make this country better each day! God Bless America!

Since this Statement Piece is from Afghanistan, the birthplace of Rumi, I thought I'd drop some ancient wisdom on you today with one of my favorite fashion accessories.

"This necklaces is an ANTIQUE from the Kochi tribes of Afghanistan. It is 60 to 80 years old handmade. The handwork is just stunning and very ethnic tribal. It sits beautifully around the neck. The pictures really do not do them justice. The necklace is put together beautifully with lots of charms hanging from the bottom. The closers is an S hook. Very old necklace worn by Afghan Kochi women." 

The metal they utilized is commonly known as German silver or glit as they call it in Afghanistan and the stones are colorful glass.
